The Ikogosi Warm Spring is one of the most popular tourist attraction centres in Nigeria. Located in Ekiti State, the Southwestern region of the country, the town itself, Ikogosi is serene and quiet.
It is popular because of the ‘mysterious’ warm spring that attracts hundreds of visitors annually.
In the mystery and story behind the Ikogosi Warm Spring, there is a warm spring flowing side-by-side with a cold one. Everything about the location is a complete gift to mankind and you cannot understand it without looking at the roots.
Like almost every other historic tourist attraction centre, there are stories behind the Ikogosi Warm Springs. These stories have been passed on and believed by generations and one of such myths warm and cold springs were the two wives of a great hunter.
One of the wives was very quiet and the other was said to be very temperamental. A particular day came and the two wives had a fight and were rebuked by their husband. The temperamental wife changed to the warm spring while the quiet one turned to the cold spring.
